Conan's Stellar SUPRACHUB
As a veteran long-distance bikepacker of routes such as the Great Divide, Conan know a thing or two when it came to the ideal bike for multi-day events. Using gravel bikes and seeing how much they took a battering (as did Conan on the descents!), he wanted something that was more robust with some front-end compliance and space for big tyres. The SUPRACHUB was ideal!
From the start Conan knew he wanted a Lauf Fork for his rig. Half the weight of a standard suspension fork with 30mm of progressive travel, the Lauf was the perfect answer to his desire for more compliance. Now in its third iteration, the Lauf can clear the massive 2.25” tyres that the SUPRACHUB can handle.
Although the Lauf does not route cables internally, with the SUPRACHUB running integrated setups natively, we opted for the rear brake hose to run internally from bars to dropout. Having weighed up the pros and cons of the various systems out there, we settled on the Deda Superbox setup - a well designed and thought through stem and bar combo that suited the aesthetics of the build.
For gearing a mullet setup was always on the cards and with all Quirk frames being UDH compatible it made sense to take advantage of this and build using the SRAM Eagle XX Transmission. For those who don’t know SRAM Transmission groups do away with the traditional hanger and mount directly to the frame offering a much stronger interface. The derailleurs are completely rebuildable so offer great longevity. Perfect for an item that could be subject to some serious abuse.
The paint was our signature Kassite finish fading a midnight blue to slate grey with a white speckle. The lustre of this finish just blows our minds. What a build!
